Club name/ changes?

Some members and individuals who will remain nameless for discussion purposes have over the past few weeks mentioned to myself and other committee members on wether we should register marocatlasgib as our clubs charity for the morocco solidarity work and re-name the official club to something else such as the Gibraltar 4x4 club or off road club etc

I think this may be a good point and a good idea and so open it up for discussion.

The idea would be so we separate the club from the charity yet under one group

Just a reminder that you was the one who suggested to keep this name for the Club and it went into vote from all attending members,don't get me wrong bro its just that I don't see the point in changing our name.

I think we should have a general meeting where everyone can express their views on this matter. The aim of registering the club is to be recognized as an official club in Gibraltar and we can then organize fund raising events which we would donate to local charities and for the needed in Africa. Having said this as a club we are going to find problems with the authorities in Spain as the laws do not permit our type of activities as a group that's why you don't find official 4x4 clubs in Spain only groups where events are organized by their buisnesses that's why they don't have membership fees but do have outing fees which cover insurance and permits which we as a club cannot get.

The idea of the name change has come around after on many ocasions we have been asked about why the name as it suggests a club from Maroc instead from Gib, so it has to be questioned. The idea is not that bad afterall as when we organise charity events as Gibraltar 4x4 we could be raising money towards MarocAtlas solidarity group our charity!!!

Tuggy i do not have so much time available either mate but as a committee of a club which we are setting up you must understand that at least for the first year we need to tackle many issues to register the club and need those meetings. We are at the stage of filling forms and need all committee members to make this happen, i understand it can get a bit time consuming but it is our interest to dedicate this time to acheive what we set out to do.

I see your point us our secratary and belive me you are doing a great job,but this suggestion is sure not coming from the commitee and the reason of keeping this name for the club its course its well known since a very long time and changing the name is not really a problem but I don't see the reason in it as it states that its a Gibraltar club and what comes second or first in the heading does not mean a thing,for example nearly none of the local clubs has Gibraltar on it.

Again I have to say that this matter was done and delt with when we all voted for keeping the MarocAtlas Gibraltar 4x4 Club on our first meeting by all attendees,probably the individauls who are suggesting this were not on that meeting and did not have a chance of putting out their thoughts,but again I would like to know what will changing the Clubs name help us out?

I personally am happy with the present name but I'm not fussy
