Event Description

The Club has been invited to attend a Rally Raid into Morocco from our friend of Maroc Challenge,Rui Cabaco.

The idea is to create a team of three or more vehicles to participate in the Rally representing our Club and Gibraltar

The team has to be sure to go by the rules of the organisation and has to be able to use GPS navigation.This is also a Solidarity Raid and there is also a prize for the most Solidarity Team.

CATEGORY ADVANCE (new):

This category is for participants with experience in Raids, in order to participate you have participated once in the category Challenge Maroc Adventure or to certify having participated in any other type of event with the same degree of difficulty. The tour is made by Track. The percentage of dirt tracks is superior to the Adventure category.

Age of vehicles: manufactured before 1995

Authorized vehicles: only 4 x 2 and 4 x 4

Degree of difficulty: 4 x 2: very high, 4 x 4: high

Time limit for the stage: YES

Classification: Yes

Estimados participantes,

A menos de dos meses del inicio de vuestra gran aventura vamos empezar a enviaros toda la información necesaria para la organización de vuestros equipos!

Así que al largo de las próximas semanas vais a recibir la siguiente información:

Programa definitivo:

Horarios, verificaciones técnicas y administrativas, información sobre las etapas y distancias en kilómetros.

Documentación:

Información sobre toda la documentación necesaria personal y del vehículo para la aduana en Marruecos.

Ferry:

La organización de la Maroc Challenge tiene reservadas plazas para todos los participantes en ambos los trayectos, Motril/Melilla y Tánger (ciudad) – Tarifa.

Muy Importante: Los billetes de trayecto Tánger – Tarifa se emiten en abierto, esto significa que cada equipo puede volver a su ritmo o en caso de algún equipo pretender quedar algunos días más en marruecos. Para realizar este trayecto no es necesario llamar ni reservar basta presentarse en el Ferry el día elegido.

Campings/Hoteles:

La elección del tipo de alojamiento es libre. (la mayoría de los equipos participantes elige el camping). En algunos de los campings también existe la posibilidad de elegir Bungalós!
Para la reserva del tipo de alojamiento se enviara un hoja en Excel con la información detallada.
En algunos campings existe la posibilidad de reservar cena y desayuno y en todos los hoteles la cena y desayuno están incluidos en el precio.

Reglamento Winter Edition 2012:

En el reglamento además de la información general sobre las normas del evento también se informara del listado de material obligatorio, listado de material aconsejado y tabla de penalizaciones.

Tracks, Waypoints y GuideBook:

El día 24 de noviembre se envían los Tracks, Waypoints (para GPS) y GuideBook (para imprimir).

Por norma la organización NO TRANSFERIRÁ ninguna ruta , WPT o Track a ningún GPS de los participantes, esta transferencia de datos será de responsabilidad de cada equipo participante, pero la organización tiene a disponibilidad de los participantes un contacto para cualquier duda o problema en la transferencia de datos.

La Tracks y Waypoints se envían en los siguientes formatos: CompeGPS/TowNav, GDB Garmin, Oziexplorer, USR Lowrance.

There has been a misunderstanding in the way we have intrepeted the costs of the rally,if you can see this budget note at the bottom we did not count with the campings as we thought it as all in the prize already,hope this is of no inconvinienc as its just 70 euros per car for the whole rally>

BUDGET

The Maroc Challenge Raid is a low cost competition, so we have tried to minimise costs in order to provide you with a unique adventure as affordable as possible. You can get a good idea of the participation costs involved in the following estimate:

Fuel

Price/litre petrol in Morocco:1€

Price/litre diesel in Morocco:0,73€

Total distance covered in Morocco: 2.800km (approx.)

Campings:

The Rally week, for 2 people + vehicle): 70€

You can easily cover your expenses if you follow our instructions to find sponsors.

Comment by Alfred Balban on October 10, 2012 at 23:25: Today we have had our first meeting with the participating members to inform them of the latest news of the Rally,they have been issued with notes of what are the essentials for their vehicles and Rules & Regulations we will all have to abide to.

The Team will be issued a Tracking System which will give everyone the chance to follow us live and even see at what speed we will be moving on the stages.

MarocAtlas Gibraltar 4x4 Club is going to be competing in the Maroc Challenge Advance Rally 2012 and will be showing our Gibraltar Colours!

This Rally has lots of media involved and its internationally known.
