Facebook Vs Webpage

I have recently been thinking alot about new ways to promote the club since i feel there are still many more people into offroading in gibraltar who dont know about us or more so how to contact us, this got me thinking about the times when myself with the help of Morgan Chichon started the Gibraltar Japanese 4x4 page on Facebook. HUGELY popular page...

Coinsidently a few days later I saw some comments by two individuals on the wall of the Gibraltar japanese 4x4 page saying that they missed the page and that it was basicaly good fun and a pitty we had left it. I actually ended up agreeing since there was alot more interaction from non club members and it was through that site (lets not all now forget) that the first few events came through and we all met each other!

 

We all agree that the inital push in creating a page and group makes it ever so popular at the begining the novelty and people seeing our pictures brings in more interest and then we lose out by people dropping out of interest or out of not seeing more pics on the site they frequented etc

I remember looking at that pages stats and we used to have over a thousand hits a week (when we had new pics from new trips etc) - thats crazy promotion!!

These old pages used to keep the interest since (lets face it) only the hardcore club members and fans use this website and the others are just 'people on facebook'

Facebook is the best way to promote our club easily and to the masses and even though we do have a page and a club facebook i dont see as if 1. we use them or 2. as if they are making any kind of impact at all compared to the original pages did where we all used to connect, post comments, post photos etc etc

Even for our events, we had more contributions and the event system on facebook went out to everyone and i think since then our numbers have dropped.. Is it related to people not finding out since we only advertise on our webpage? could be summer too i guess...

 

Im not sure what i am recomending here since id like to leave this topic open for discussion but i am wondering if we should make a new facebook page for the club - infact, not even a page but a full account where we can run the advertising for the club? brand new fresh start with all pictures and events running through it AND this page...

Yes I can see what you mean Stewart and I'am with you but you can always use your page to comment put pics and videos and later post a link of your latest activity to your own groups on facebook,that way as you say more people will see the posts and also use our 4x4 social network.I have been doing it for a very long time even you can add an RSS link with your  group page and all your activity here will be automatically posted to facebook pages.

The events I belive they should carry on on our main page so as to be more official and have a control of participants.

About the page on facebook,its already there,we have the page and the group,all we need is people to use them.

As I said before there are ways you can link your page and activities to facebook,actually you have three ways to do it on our network,the FB like button,activity direct post and the share button on nearly everything there is and can do on our 4x4 social network,

give it a try and see the results.

Not everyone is using this features and its a pity cause thats what its there for.to promote your pages and activities.

You are a bit confused I think with the FB buttons,there are three,one is for the main page which I have moved to the boottom of the main page,that one links the main page,the second is on the activity feed on the left and if you tick the FB window whatever you post will appear on your FB wall,then you have the third one which appears on fotos, videos, blogs ect;this if you share on facebook any of those features will link back to the source you have shared,I think its the best and easier way to do it all from your own page here,its not that difficult to share as you do on FB.

I just did a test with the like button of FB on this discussion and as you can see on the page it has 1 Like already,well automatically it posted to my wall on FB and had Morgan Liking it and brought back to the discussion,easy bro!

I personally prefer the facebook pages as everyone can join /follow our discussions easier as I find myself a bit lost at times when if you dont log on to this page daily you acually miss out on many discussions jokes etc unless you look for them, for example today where there has been alot of coments etc and cannot keep up with all where as on fb you could scroll down the page and was able to take part in discussions and coment on everything happening.

I have been trying to go through our fb page but there is not much and hardly any coments whereas i thought everything we did here would come out on fb for eveyone to enjoy, I have also been trying to use the chat when others are online but never worked! anyone having these problems or just me LOL?

Another idea is to do as our friends costadelsol4x4 who have their own page but all of the interaction between members happens through fb which is easier for most of us.

everything we can do to promote our club is good.and face book is something that every body can see,here in gib.and like you say ther are lots of people out there with offroading cars that dont know us or they dont know our web page.and this will motivate people to join this exciting and fun offroading club.thats my point of view,bro

i may also say that the maroc page is excellent and full of information.i personaly will not stop using it .we only need more people to interact bro

Thats what I'am trying to tell you,the interacting on the site of any members who have a facebook page, all they need to do is share it and all your friends on facebook will see your site page and whatever you post.
