Dear Club members,
I hope you have been enjoying the summer.
I’m still relatively new to the club, and haven’t had the pleasure of meeting many of you as yet; hope to change that with the coming season.
I’d wanted to put the offer out to everyone that I have a couple of OBD/EOBD diagnostic tools that may be of use to club members and I am more than happy to help out with this.
GAP IID
If you don’t have access to Pathfinder or Topix, this Land Rover specific tool that is considered one of the best by forum enthusiasts, and not only allows for fault finding and clearing faults but also performs advanced functions such as reflashing ECU’s reprogramming the car configuration file and a number of service functions, such as SAS calibration and brake bleeding etc. Available options depend on model.
Some of these are VIN locked, but if there is a need fo this, it can be looked into.
For some models, ECU remapping and EGR deletion are possible with a purchased solution from Bell Auto Services (https://bellautoservices.co.uk/engine-remaps/)
Supported models include
Autel MaxiAP AP200
This gizmo is a general EOBD diagnostic tool from Autel, a recognised leader in aftermarket diagnostic tools for both DIY and trade professionals, that allows adding manufacturer specific diagnostic tools.
I have the Land Rover suite installed and this covers a far greater range of models than the GAP IID tool; perhaps of most interest is that it seems to covers the early Discovery 1 from 1994+ and the Disco 2.
A full list of supported vehicles and available diagnostic functions can be found at
https://www.autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2
The ‘product model’ to look for is the MaxiAP200.
For those with Toyota’s or Mitsubishi’s, these seem to be supported but I only have EOBD scanning at present. If there is interest in getting manufacturer support for these, this can be added as a subscription, which isn’t much, so can be looked into easily if there is interest within the club.
I’ve not had much time playing with this, but so far I’m impressed. IT doesn’t offer all the stuff the GAP IID does, but it adds new features which the IID doesn’t, such as forced DPF regeneration which may become an issue here in Gib.
If anyone in the club has a need for these, please feel free to reach out to me. If you don’t get me here, pretty sure the club have access to my contact details.
