after experiencing problems with the car up in the track in merzouga, we found out we had burnt a brake caliper. Luckily we had tuggy with us to lend a hand with the mechanics but the car continued to struggle. We had to stay in the kasbah le touareg in merzouga and sort out the problem but all we ended up with was a car with no brakes :/. We finally decided to head down to zagora on the main road whilst the rest of the group took the Paris Dakar track. 150km from merzouga, the clutch gave up and tuggy had to tow us down the motorway with no electronics, brakes or engine (basically hauling dead meat). Luckily we saw a tow truck which kindly stopped and asked what the problem was. they were taking a dune buggy down to merzouga but said they'd come back up and collect us. tuggy towed us down to the small town of alnif where we made friends with a local fossil collector and where treated to a lunch of egg and chips. they managed to find us a hotel for the night called kasbah meteorite a couple of km out of town where we stayed the night. in the morning, we made our way to zagora whilst the car was already being fixed there. when we arrived in zagora, the car was being fixed and the guys their showed us our broken clutch which had snapped in 4 places. they're still sorting out the car now whilst we stay in a hotel across the road.
