Hi All,

Does anyone know if you can have problems getting an MOT if you put on a tube bumper?

I'm thinking of fabbing my own but dont want to waist time or money. Also does anyone know where to get suitable tube to do that sort of thing in spain (or gib)? I've asked at Salinas already. I want to get a fair bit because I want to do sliders and both bumpers.

Don't suppose anyone has a tube bender? The plan is to have my bends done by someone else and I've got the gear to do the rest. Thanks for any info.

I know a few people who have build their own and haven't had problems with the MOT but you never know with this people, you have to build it to look at least proffesional standard.

As for the material maybe if you know someone in the shipyard can help you out ;)

Yeah I know there is plenty of tube about but it's all the wrong stuff. To heavy and rigid. most of it is like scaffold tube or something... very strong under load but bend it, or smack it hard and it shatters. A tube of that stuff weighs like 5 times (or more) my stock bumper. I think I want to make it from chrome-moly its almost as light as aluminium, but lets see what the price is like.

adam theres a place over here in la linea that is a steel stock holder he does red band or blue band,,,or better still you need CDS [cold drawn steel] thats what roll cages are made from,,,,and you can get 2-3" im going this week to get some for the 101 so will check it out for you,,,,

all so if you make a bumper....use your old one for the MOT then change them after that way no issues,,,,

OK Tuggy sound great. I was planning on CDS, I'm not sure what red or blue band is. Any prices would be greatly appreciated mate. I'd like to keep it as light as possible cause I don't horsepower to spare, But not if it makes it more expensive then a shop bought bar.

Good idea with the bumpers. I'll just make it bolt on...problem solved!

was down there this afternoon i saw 2" but never got a price,,,sorry....

oh well it's good to know there is a place around anyways. Thanks for the info. I'll get the directions when I'm nearly ready to start. probably end of summer

Every bullbar passes the MOT,you just need a letter from your dealer that they have fitted it to your vehicle.
