MAG4X4 CLUB PRESS RELEASE ON THE GIBRALTAR CHRONICLE 2/6/11

Maroc Atlas Gibraltar 4x4 Cub is a group of avid off-roaders originally created by Alfred Balban and George Acolina in 1994.Since then the group organises yearly trips through Morocco. The trips take the group through the remotest and harshest of Morocco travelling around 4000 kilometres over 16 days.

"Members load their off-road vehicles up with everything they can taking clothes and supplies to children in the poorer areas of the country.Over the years our solidarity trips have been sponsored by a range of local companies giving us supplies which we distribute along our trip. These supplies range from children's toys and clothes to pencils and pens that they can use in their school's,"said Stewart Finlayson who forms part of the group.

The group has recently expanded and are formalising themselves into a club organising 4x4 and off-road trips into Spain as well as their yearly "Raid".

"Our trips range from simple tracks and sightseeing to the most extreme of 4x4 Trials, competitions and off-road race circuits.Being a small group we also help each other with our vehicles and with tips and suggestions on what upgrades and parts suit what we do."

The group met last Thursday at the John Macintosh Hall to formally set up the club and arranging an events schedule for the year.
