The Taourarte Education Project.

Our club joined forces and became trustees of the Gibraltar registered charity N. 264 The Taourarte Education Project back in 2018 and have been working together since then helping with their projects during our solidarity raids were we visit the village and deliver school materials and other things for the children.

The project also consists in providing funds to help those students who need to continue their studies outside their village. 

Some of our members went in 2019 and spent a week at the school renovating the classroom making many children and families very happy.

Taourarte Education Project

Since the beginning of the year we have been in talks with Zainab Association for the Social Development of Women to open a second boarding house for vulnerable girls from rural areas who live too far from Chefchaouen to be able to commute to school.

Finally this has now been achieved. A suitable property has been identified and rental contract signed. It will open shortly.

Initially it will open with six girls but has capacity for ten girls. Our existing house has capacity for five girls.

The new students house has been running on a trail basis since October.

So far it has been successful and will therefore continue to operate. It presently accommodates 8 girls. Subject to obtaining funding there is space for another 2 girls.

On our last visit in November, we arrived at Taourarte Education Project to deliver the generator for the school and toys for the children.
